Jaap Kreijkamp has a Masters degree in Informatics (specialisation Computer Systems) from the Vrije Universiteit (VU) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. His last year was at Linköping University, in Sweden, where he wrote his thesis.

After getting his degree he worked for three years as Campus Network Manager at the VU planning and extending the network infrastructure and developing network applications.

After having a half year break traveling through Asia Jaap moved on to Chess in Haarlem, the Netherlands. Chess is medium sized company focusing on three markets, M2M, industrial and eCommerce. Jaap worked here for four years working on several key projects as developer and/or designer.

After the birth of our first son, Luuk, Jaap started his own company, Ctrl-J, to have more control over my working hours and basically to have time for my kids.

In 2007 we made the leap to the other side and moved to Mackay, North Queensland, Australia. About a year later Jaap restarted Ctrl-J, now as an Australian entity.

Since winter 2010 we're living in Guanaba the hinterlands of the Gold Coast, South Queensland, Australia.

Since autumn 2015 we're living on Tamborine Mountain the hinterlands of the Gold Coast, South Queensland, Australia.
